#6 marriage expert

So for this assignment I interviewed my grandparents who have been happily married since may 10th 1969 and here is what they had to say.

•what were some challenges in your marriage?
"raising the children"- Grandma
"and finances"-Grandpa

•how they were resolved?
"well the kids grew up and moved out and we worked through the financial problems because that's all ya can do" - Grandpa

•Are there any new challenges?
"no,we tend to prefer each others company" -Grandma

•Any advice they have for a successful healthy marriage? Together they said: communicate! Have similar morals and goals.
"It helps if you like the person you marry"- Grandpa
"you have to have a sense of humor, it helps with the struggles"- Grandma

• What has helped them be successful? Communication
"well I just do what your grandmother tells me to do (as he's smiling) she's the boss" -Grandpa

  1. I love the that they both said to communicate. This is the best healer of must problems any relationship will face. Life was diffinitly more relaxed back in those days of the 60's and 70's without all the pressure we face today. But some challenges are still here in todays world. I like the picture of your grandparents and by the way, what kind of car is that?

  2. I love this beautiful story of your grandparents been together for 42 years. It is wonderful that they work out all the challenges to keep their marriage. I agree that raising children is one of the most challenges things to do as parents, but with love, patient and care are the key to be successful. They are a true example of fait and prosperity in a family.
    Congratulations!!

  5. Hi Ashley, loved the comentary that your grandparents gave you on having a successful marriage. I have been married for 18 years and I have to agree with them it takes communacation, having similar life goals. You have to be willing to work together as partners in your marriage to make it work and you have to be willing to grow together rather than apart.
